User Experience Researcher

Dress4less.com, Powered by Service, is one of the fastest growing online retailers and we are looking to hire a smart, forward-thinking User Experience Researcher to join our User Experience team.

Position Summary:

Dress4less.com’s User Experience team is growing and we’re looking for a skilled User Experience Researcher to join our weird (but oh so fun!) hardworking team of talented and crazy UX peeps.

You will be part of a small, multi-disciplinary team of passionate folks who love what they do. We are a humble group who are committed to defining and building the future of Dress4less.com’s innovative and easy-to-use website.

More about the crazy, fun, weird and passionate person that is you:

You are Sherlock Holmes and MacGyver rolled into one, cool UX package. Nothing excites you more than sleuthing to find what issues our website users may be encountering or what enhancements would make them say Wow, then using any UX tools you can come up with to conduct a study  (a stick of gum, a paperclip, one sharpie marker and one twitter account  – yeah, I can make a usability study out of that!”).

You see the value of conducting user research the traditional old-school way (that little bit of mad scientist in you still loves the idea of a usability “test lab”… mwuhaahhhaahhha!) but more often you find yourself conducting studies with one of many guerilla tactics you’ve cultivated over the years (Hey, Silverback in the local coffee shop? Sure. That’ll work!). You recognize that quickly shifting priorities and a rapid pace means adapting your research methods to whatever best suits the project.

User Experience Researcher responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Conduct user research to understand the needs and desires of Dress4less.com target audience using methods including: usability studies, ethnographic field studies, competitive evaluations, participatory design sessions, user surveys, card sorting, guerilla usability tactics and similar approaches.

• Use research to help align business goals and priorities with User needs in order to support the company’s strategic direction

•Synthesize qualitative, quantitative, and customer support data to guide business decisions and drive change by translating your research insights into actionable recommendations

• Work with User Interface Designer(s) and other key tech team members to create concepts based on business requirements and usability findings. Conduct iterative testing

• Identify opportunities to further extend the value of User Research to others Dress4less.com teams

The boring but important technical stuff you have:

• Minimum 3+ years experience in gathering user requirements, field studies, usability testing, and questionnaire/survey design. Preferably in a large-scale ecommerce environment

• Degree in Cognitive Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Sociology, Anthropology or related comparable experience

• Excellent time-management, multi-tasking, strong analytical and oral communication skills and the ability to prioritize quickly

• Self starter that is able to collaborate actively with others in a cross- functional team and requires little hand-holding to dive in and get the job done

If you want the fun and feel of a start-up company, but the solid management and resources of an established business, Dress4less.com may be the place for you!
